Over the past few months, Nintendo has become more proactive in distributing the music of their classic games, either via physical releases or additions to the Nintendo Music app.
A new Mario music release will be coming for fans of the franchise directly from Nintendo, however, there’s a catch.
Super Mario RPG is available for Nintendo Switch
According to Genki on Twitter, the OST for Super Mario RPG will be released on vinyl and a special edition four disc CD package.

It appears that the soundtrack will only be released in Japan, though.
The release will feature the soundtrack from the 1996 title, as well as a special commentary book from the original composer Yoko Shimomura.
Fans on social media and message boards are thrilled to see the music available, and it’s great to see Nintendo putting in more effort to let players experience the classic music outside of the games.
It is unclear if this will also appear on the Nintendo Music app, which players can enjoy if they’re a subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online.

There are plenty of other Mario game soundtracks available in the app, so we’d imagine this will appear soon after launch.
Super Mario RPG was rereleased last year for the Nintendo Switch.
In our review of the game, we said, “Super Mario RPG is the perfect remake of one of Nintendo’s very finest games, and I’m so very glad it’s about to find a whole new audience. This is an adventure that’s fizzing with invention, unforgettable characters, and sharp writing.”
The soundtrack is an utter delight that will transport listeners back to the moments of the well-loved game.

We will have to hope that this vinyl and CD release makes it to western suppliers, though you will be able to import it from Japan.
There’s currently no reports on the pricing of the soundtrack, but we do know it will be released on 9 April 2025.
