It seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been catching bugs wrong after all these years.

When Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released in 2020, it became one of the most beloved games on the Nintendo Switch. Not only due to its charming life-sim gameplay mechanics and visuals but it was also credited for helping millions of gamers get through the COVID-19 pandemic by keeping people connected and entertained across the globe.

“With nothing but a tent and your trusty new NookPhone, life will be a tad rustic to start with. But don’t worry! With a little elbow grease, the island can become somewhere you’re proud to call home. As they say, if you want things just right, there’s really only one option: do it yourself!” reads the description of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

One of the many things that you can get up to in this delightful Nintendo game is catching bugs, lots and lots of bugs. However, according to gamers on Reddit, we’ve been catching bugs all wrong for years.

“How am I supposed to catch these?? I’m going crazy,” asked No_Law6676. To which Complexfroge simply replied: “Hold A and walk even slower.”

What’s more, Redditor Raptorheart adds: “You can also tilt the stick less to go even slower. Then you are basically an undetectable ninja.” Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I don't think you’re going to be taking the Animal Crossing: New Horizons ninja crown anytime soon.

“Don't keep stalking right at them with no pause. Have your net "at the ready" and slowly stalk up to the tree, taking a pause, every three steps,” advised ivanrex428. “When you are about a net distance away, let go of the button and you should be good to go!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now on the Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, if you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion, you get its Happy Home Paradise DLC at no extra cost.
