Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been loving the new Legend of Zelda collab items, and have been working together to ensure everyone has access to them.

Last week Animal Crossing: New Horizons saw both a free 3.0 Update in addition to a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, which has been quite disappointing for many.

The free update made a number of changes to the game and added new content.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Among the additions was a new hotel that could be decorated like the Happy Home Paradise DLC released years prior, but one of the best additions are the new collaboration items.

Players can now decorate their island with items inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and LEGO, joining the existing list of Super Mario themed items. Usually, there’s a catch. But here's how you can get the new items for free, no catch.

For the Legend of Zelda and Splatoon items players need to scan an amiibo to see them added to the game. It's fine if yo've already got a few, but less than ideal if you were never onboard with Nintendo’s figures.

The good news is the Animal Crossing community has come together to ensure everyone has access to these special items, without having to go out and buy the relevant amiibo.

Players can head over to the fan-made and organised Nookazon site, where they can buy and sell in-game items using in-game currency, or by trading/exchanging other valuable items.

It’s been updated with all the new additions so if you’re looking for Zelda’s Tri Rod you’ll be able to see who’s got one and what they want for it. It’s also a great place to sell turnips if you’re just coming back to the game and your island needs a cash injection.

For Those Who Do Own Amiibo

If you do own a collection of amiibo you won’t need Nookazon, but it’s still worth remembering in case there’s anything you need in the game.

In order to unlock the Legend of Zelda items all you need to do is invite one of the new Zelda villagers to visit your island.

This can be achieved by scanning any Legend of Zelda amiibo at the terminal in Resident Services.

For Splatoon it’s the exact same thing, but any Splatoon series amiibo, so the Inklings, Octolings etc.

They don’t have to be from the specific Zelda or Splatoon Amiibo ranges either, the Super Smash Bros versions will work too. Thank you to all the players on Nookazon who have put their time and Bells into making sure we can all access these awesome new items!
