During a recent financial update, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the “hours played on Game Pass for [the] Fallout franchise increased nearly 5X quarter-over-quarter.”

Furthermore, the TV show was the “second most watched title on the platform ever”.
From the show’s success, we also got a hefty next-gen Fallout 4 update, much to the surprise of the fandom.
As if that wasn’t already reason enough to return to the series once more, we then got the launch of Fallout: London.
It hasn’t been plain sailing since its release, yet, despite the initial hiccup of the expansion being “unplayable”, the game has proven a roaring success.

So much so that fans believe it's one of the best maps of the franchise.
Those are the main reasons behind this monumental comeback, however, there are smaller releases that have also contributed.
Even during lulls in player numbers, there have been fans working to expand on the lore of the previous games.
Mods have become the lifeblood of the series.

With more expansions on the way, and Bethesda already planning the next instalment, Fallout’s future is bright.
Some would say dazzling... Though that could be from the light of those nukes making everything so bright.
