Fans had believed The Elder Scrolls VI would launch before Fallout 5, but after this development they’re not so sure.

Previously when discussions regarding the next Fallout broke out on social media, Bethesda got roasted by fans.

Similar to Rockstar Games’ fandom, they didn’t agree that such a wait was acceptable.

Now, however, the discussion has turned into a heated debate over which should come first: Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 5.

It all started when Reddit user PalwaJoko shared a rumour that Fallout 5 would be released sooner to ride the hype created by Amazon’s adaptation.

The Fallout series is where all these troubles started, but it's just so gosh darn good!

They theorised that the only way Bethesda could make that happen was to “take away resources” from Elder Scrolls VI.

That, or “get another studio” to work on Fallout 5.

None of which is ideal as far as both fandoms are concerned.

“Chasing monthly TV trends when you have a seven year game dev cycle is just stupid as sh*t,” stated breathnac.

Few would argue otherwise, however, it’s also fair to say that hardly anyone expected the TV show to do as well as it did.

“Tbf, a lot of adaptations aren't well received,” said CuriousWoollyMammoth, “I mean, look at Todd Howard's face when he was told how high the score was for the show.”

Using this as a basis for why Fallout 5 might release earlier, it’s more than plausible that The Elder Scrolls VI is momentarily put on hold.

And yet, it was only a month ago that a trailer for the Skyrim sequel was teased.

Consequently, it seems unlikely Bethesda is ditching one game for the other.

Nonetheless, the fact that there’s a possibility of a delay has sent fans scrambling to find any scrap of evidence to prove the rumours wrong.

All they want is answers – is that too much to ask?
