Elden Ring fans have a lot to say about FromSoftware’s latest announcement, and almost none of it is good.

While a lot of fuss was kicked up over Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree’s inclusion in this year’s Game Awards discussion is it really such a surprise? It was a DLC expansion that might as well have been its own game, adding an enormous new world to explore, solid boss fights and most importantly, more lore obsess over.

As you can imagine fans are looking ahead to what could be next, as Elden Ring definitely has the potential to be a series like Dark Souls but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be part of FromSoftware’s plan.

FromSoftware’s own Hidetaka Miyazaki said in a recent interview that Elden Ring 2 is not in development with the studio, and while there are currently several projects in the works with the studio a sequel to the game isn’t one of them.

Now this could just be misdirection of course, but on the very real chance that it isn’t, fans have their opinions

Gathering their thoughts on Reddit they expressed a bit of disappointment at the lack of a sequel, but others have faith in FromSoftware’s decision making and are just excited for what’s coming next.

“Awesome, let them cook. Elden Ring was great but I'll be happy to see what else FromSoft comes up with” said one fan.

Others were a bit of more demanding in their approach, like one who said they “want an sequel to Elden Ring” and “don’t care what other people think.”

Some even believed it was just a case of misdirection, that FromSoftware will definitely do Elden Ring 2, just not yet. They said “Oh, they are gonna release Elden Ring 2 just not right away. They have grown the Soul genre massively through this game with tons and tons of newcomers.”

Do you want Elden Ring 2 already, or are you happy to wait until FromSoftware thinks it’s the right time?
