A new Batman VR game is officially on the way, allowing you to don the cape and cowl and be your own Dark Knight.

The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League left a bad taste in the mouths of Batman Arkham fans everywhere, so it’s a good thing another game is on the way to make us forget all about it.

Check out Batman: Arkham Shadow below

That game is none other than Batman: Arham Shadow, a VR title releasing exclusively for Meta Quest 3 later this year.

Now we don’t know much about the game at the time of writing, apart from it’ll let us literally BE the Batman as we prowl the streets of Gotham and probably beat some poor goons senseless.

The teaser trailer showed off a little bit of that as it follows Batman stalking a rat for some reason, before landing in an alley and being set upon by an entire horde of vermin.

Now why are the rats important? Well for those who watched James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will know, there’s a villain in DC called Ratcatcher, and he’s usually a villain found in Batman’s rogue gallery.

Ratcatcher hasn’t appeared in the Arkhamverse so far, though it’s not a stretch of the imagination to believe he’ll be the main antagonist of Batman: Arkham Shadow.

Where the game falls in the timeline is another unanswered question, as following the events of Batman: Arkham Knight it’s believed the world’s greatest detective went underground, before eventually reemerging to join the Justice League for the Suicide Squad game.

Batman: Arkham Shadow’s release date is currently unknown, though it’s likely we’ll hear more about the game, and hopefully see a full-on gameplay showcase, sometime later this year.

Hopefully this also leads to another Batman: Arkham game on consoles as well, especially after the Dark Knight’s bleak send-off in the Suicide Squad game.
