Online multiplayer, intergalactic dogfight simulator Star Wars: Squadrons is free to play for the next few hours via Steam. While it is coming to the end of its promotional free to play weekend, you still have the opportunity to give it a go until 5pm GMT, January 31.
There are two versions available on Steam right now. Those with the equipment can play in full immersion VR. However, there is also the standard version if you don't own a VR headset. Either way you can still play as if sat in the cockpit of your favourite Star Wars fighter ship. There is also a single player campaign available for those who don't want to take their adventure online.

EA recently announced that three new Star Wars games are currently in the works. The first is a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order previously hinted at online. The second is an FPS title set in the Star Wars universe, currently in development by Respawn Entertainment, developers of Titanfall and Apex Legends. The final one is a Star Wars strategy game being developed by new studio Bit Reactor, which comprises of staff who worked on the XCOM and Civilization series'.
However, these may be the last Star Wars games for EA. The publisher reported that it will step away from the IP following the release of these three announced titles. This means that it could be some time before we see a follow up to the space fighting simulator series.
As part of the lunar new year those who enjoy shooting down Star War spaceships can get the game at 70% off until 3 February. There is also a special Star Wars bundle, which includes Star Wars: Squadrons, the original Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Battlefront II for almost 80% off their combined price.
