One of the best horror games of all time is free

It's been confirmed that people who preorder the Dead Space remake on Steam will also be given Dead Space 2 for free on release day.

How are we all finding The Callisto Protocol? The incredibly gory survival horror title was directed by Glen Schofield (AKA the co-creator of the Dead Space series), and was cancelled in Japan due to it being refused a rating, likely due to how extremely violent it is.

Although there’s no connection between the new title and Dead Space, it’s still a very exciting time for fans of that series. The remake of the first game is set to release super soon - 27 January, to be exact. Unfortunately for PS4 and Xbox One owners, it’s been confirmed that the title will only be releasing on new-gen consoles and PC, so it might finally be the time to take the plunge into PS5 and Xbox Series X/S territory for some.

Check out the trailer for Dead Space below.

Now though, as reported by Screen Rant, a brilliant new preorder bonus has been announced which might just lure in some more new players. Over on Twitter, it’s been confirmed that anyone who preorders the remake on Steam will also be given Dead Space 2 for free on release day, allowing those totally new to the series to check out the next instalment after they’ve finished the new title. Or before, I guess, but why would you do that?

Obviously, for those who already know and love the games, this isn’t going to be the best preorder bonus in the world, as it’s a little pointless if you already own the title. Clearly, this is for the soon-to-be fans, and if you’ve never given the series a go, now really is the perfect chance to give it a try. That said, the sequel is probably going to feel a little rough around the edges if you go straight into it from the shiny new remake, but what can you do? You'll be waiting a while if you want them to remake that one as well.
