For very different reasons, No Man’s Sky and Stardew Valley are among the most popular games of their respective genres but if there’s one thing that each has in common, it’s that players can be immersed in the worlds for months, if not years to come.
So when the worlds of No Man’s Sky and Stardew Valley are blended as one, it will most certainly pique our interest and hopefully, it will for you too. This is where the upcoming indie sci-fi casual farming sim comes into play, Lightyear Frontier.
Check out the Lightyear Frontier trailer below!
“Lightyear Frontier is a peaceful open-world farming adventure on a planet at the far edge of the galaxy. Climb into your versatile mech and start your new home on a distant planet with up to three friends as you farm alien crops, build your own homestead, and explore the untamed wilderness of the world,” reads the description of the game on the Steam store.

“Build your sustainable exofarm, grow alien crops, customise your mech, and explore a new world full of mystery with up to three friends,” it continues. “Live the quiet life as you take in the sights and sounds of your new home. Enjoy a low-stress, combat-free experience without the need to manage things like thirst and hunger. Just focus on farming, exploration, and discovery!”
Developed and published by Frame Break and Amplifier Studios, Lightyear Frontier looks to be one of the most zen games to be released this year. If you want to try this casual sci-fi farming sim right now, then you’re in luck because it has a free playable demo on Steam as well as the Xbox Marketplace for you to download right now.
At the time of writing, Lightyear Frontier has a planned release date of 19 March 2024, and it’s arriving on PC and modern Xbox consoles. At this time, a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch release is yet to be announced. Be sure to add Lightyear Frontier to your wishlist to be notified of its launch.
