With rumours of the Nintendo Switch 2, as it is currently known, in full force in recent months, a new report has revealed we could be seeing its release in the not-too-distant future.
There is no denying that the Nintendo Switch is beloved by many, especially as it is the console that gave us titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons to name a few.

However, with its short but impactful lifespan coming to an end, talk has turned to its successor.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be even more powerful than the current handheld console and according to a report back in May, we will hear about Nintendo’s next console at some point this fiscal year.
That means that before Nintendo’s fiscal year which ends in March 2025, we will get more information about the successor.
However, according to a new report by Japanese analyst Hideki Yasuda – who works for Toyo Securities – we could be seeing the Nintendo Switch 2 be released in the first half of 2025.
This report was based on previous reports and also estimated that the handheld will come in at around $499 or lower which makes it around the same price as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Based on other rumours and reports, this could mean we can get our hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 any time between April and June 2025.
Not only that but its price makes sense considering the successor handheld is expected to perform about as well as the PlayStation 4 Pro.
With improved RAM, storage and a much-improved battery life, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a dramatic improvement on its predecessor so we can only imagine what sort of titles will be arriving alongside it.
Until then, Nintendo has released a never-ending list of games which are free to play on the current Nintendo Switch.
