Getting a brand-new console is an exciting time for anybody but with games costing more and more each year, veteran Xbox Series X users have some tips to help out the newbies.

It is no secret that gaming is an expensive hobby, so much so that getting a new console is just the first step in a very pricey journey. However, with both Xbox and PlayStation users offered the chance to subscribe to PlayStation Plus and the Xbox Game Pass respectively, there are some tricks to get games for a bit cheaper.

Check out the Xbox Series S below!

Posted to r/XboxSeriesX two years ago but with relevance to this day, one user asked: “Just got my Series X, what are some tips you wished you knew when you first got yours?”

When the gaming community isn’t at war with each other, it can be quite helpful and the post was soon inundated with tips and tricks for the new user including one which laid out all the ways you can earn free store credit for the Xbox store.

First and foremost, the user recommends immediately signing up to Microsoft Rewards which gives members points by taking part in various different tasks. This includes completing daily quizzes, trivia and polls, buying items through the Xbox store or even just playing games. Racking up these points will reward you with free store credit which in turn can be used to purchase games from the console’s extensive library.

The next recommendation was signing up for Xbox Game Pass which not only features brand-new games each month as well as a set library but it also offers huge day-one releases. Although this is a paid subscription, it is still worth it to save money each month.

These are just a few ways you can make your Xbox journey cheaper and more worthwhile.
