It’s October which means it’s spooky season. With that fact in mind, I’m sure you’ll spot a couple of Eleven and Eddie halloween costumes in the next couple of weeks but it’s going to be quite some time until we get our next real Stranger Things fix. I’m going to say it, season four was the TV highlight of this summer.

Already, fans are theorising what season five might have in store to bridge the gap. If the Netflix boss has his way, we could see a Stranger Things video game in the next couple of years. How incredible would that be?

Take a look at some season four behind the scenes footage below.

There is already a Stranger Things mobile game, plus the show has crossed over with Dead By Daylight and Fortnite, but Netflix boss Mike Verdu wants to create “the definitive Stranger Things game.” In a new YouTube interview, Verdu explained, “I gotta say there are a number of Stranger Things games that are already on the service and some out in the world on app stores but I feel like we haven’t made the definitive Stranger Things game yet, so definitely look out for that.”

As exciting as that sounds, Verdu also doesn’t give much away about exactly what vision he has in mind. Netflix Games is known for its mobile apps but I’d personally love to see a Stranger Things game released on consoles. Maybe something akin to The Quarry with your decisions deciding whether a character escapes the grasp of a Demogorgon or falls victim to Vecna’s curse.

Verdu opened up about the current state of Netflix Games. He said, “The lack of pressure to monetise and the availability of great IP will shape the games that we built internally, but I do want to set expectations – games take a long time to build and we’re very early in the game rollout here, so I wouldn’t expect to see our big internally developed games on the service for a couple of years.” In other words, we’ve got a long wait ahead of us.
