If I hid in the bushes outside your house and waited for you to come out so I could leap from the shrubbery and ask you what video game you really wanted a remake of, you'd probably scream and run away.

Those of you that didn't run away, however, would probably say Need For Speed: Underground 2.

I'm not sure what it is about Need For Speed: Underground 2 that still has us all in such a chokehold. Released in 2004, it remains a firm-favourite in the racing series, probably thanks to immaculate vibes and top-class soundtrack.

While other Need For Speed games have been remade in recent years, EA continues to leave money on the table by not officially re-releasing Underground 2. Fortunately, there are other ways to get your fix.

YouTuber ‘2Unreal5Underground’ is currently working on a remake of Need For Speed: Underground 2 in Unreal Engine 5. Better still, you can actually download and try it yourself for free.

A word of warning: while this project has been branded a remake, you may consider it more of a remaster. This is because the original game has essentially been imported into Unreal Engine 5, making more of a souped-up remaster than a ground-up remake.

This has left some fans a little disappointed, but consider this: it still looks absolutely stunning, the fact it's a conversion means it plays just as good as it did in 2004, and, most importantly, someone made this for you for free. So stop your moaning and go check it out.

If you want, you can go and download the demo from here. It's a seriously impressive effort that adds some shine to what was already a very impressive game, and should you keep you happy until the day EA finally caves and makes an actual Underground 2 remake.
