Although Mirror’s Edge shows very little signs of a heartbeat, game developers from all over have demonstrated that the vibe has been repeatedly inspiring.
New release Motorslice has now dropped on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and depending on your platform you’ll be able to check out the game for free.
It’s a parkour game that features a mix of free-running, combat, and exploration, with a unique graphics style that is really pleasing to the eye.
In Motorslice, you play as a girl named P, who must parkour through a brutalist post-apocalyptic world, fighting off massive bosses and using her free-running skills to clear challenging movement courses.

The game features deadly traps to avoid, all while dispatching enemies and performing stunts to cross impossible distances while looking incredibly stylish to clear every level.
Motorslice is inspired by the likes of Mirror’s Edge and Prince of Persia, and while I’ve only played a small chunk of the game so far, I can confidently say that developer Regular Studio has done a decent job at adapting a familiar gameplay style while also creating something that feels new.

I’m not great at it, as there’s a mid-tier boss that’s absolutely kicking me down right now, but I’m looking forward to jumping back in and playing some more as soon as I clock off.
If you’re on Steam, you’ll be able to download a free demo for Motorslice which includes the first chapter of the game (out of a total of eight), with a boss fight, four fully voiced story segments, and the full parkour system.
Altogether, it’s around 30 minutes to one hour of gameplay, so you’ll be able to get a decent chunk of playtime out of it.
Meanwhile, if you’re on PC or Xbox you’ll also be able to check the full game out on Xbox Game Pass. Motorslice wasn’t included in yesterday’s Game Pass roundup, essentially being a shadow drop that we never saw coming.
Indeed, some players have also enjoyed playing the parkour game through to completion, with reviews particularly praising it for its seamless world design and challenging combat.
“I've been excitedly waiting for this game for a good while now and I have to say that it absolutely has SMASHED my expectations,” reads one positive review with 6 hours of playtime.
“Beautiful scenery, amazing music, and the cutest protagonist. What more could you want?” reads another review.
“Finally something new and refreshing than just your typical everyday, souls-like-pixel-art-steampunk-roguelite title that is flooding Steam,” reads a third review.
Motorslice is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
