It looks like Mass Effect 5 will be unplayable for a lot of fans unless a major upgrade is made.

Mass Effect 5 (currently its unofficial title) was announced at The Game Awards in 2021 but since that time, we’ve heard little about the upcoming sci-fi sequel from developers BioWare.

Check out the trailer for the next Mass Effect below!

All we know for sure is that fan-favourite Liara T’Soni will return and what looks to be some members of the N7 crew. Oh, and it will feature a mysterious character whose identity is yet to be revealed.

The only solace that we can really take when it comes to the highly anticipated arrival of the next Mass Effect, is that now Dragon Age: The Veilguard is out of the way, the sci-fi RPG should be BioWare’s next big release. Only time will tell.

However, a previous report from VGC claims that the next Mass Effect won't be released until 2029. If that proves to be true, it would mean that the RPG would have been released eight years after its initial reveal, which would put it well into The Elder Scrolls VI release date territory.

It’s fair to assume that the next-gen console might be two or three years away at this point with both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S releasing during late 2020.

That could mean that by the time the next game is released, we’ll potentially be a couple of years into the next generation. Meaning, that if you want to play the next Mass Effect at launch, you should start saving for a new console sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, EA and BioWare will provide new details on the next Mass Effect in the coming months but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath waiting for that to happen anytime soon.
