At last month’s PlayStation Showcase, we finally got our first look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay in action. Unfortunately, we were missing a release date.
Is it too early to say that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks like a GOTY contender? I mean, come on, we expected it would be - and it’s definitely living up to the hype. The recent gameplay deep dive revealed that players will be able to instantly switch between playable characters Miles Morales and Peter Parker. We also know that the New York map is set to be twice as large as it was in the first game, with the inclusion of new boroughs like Queens. Kraven The Hunter, Lizard, and Venom are set to feature as the game’s villains and now, we’ve finally got the one final thing we’ve all been waiting for: a release date.
Take a look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in action below.
During tonight’s Summer Game Fest, it was revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will officially release on 20 October, 2023. The final countdown begins, my friends. Up until now, Insomniac Games had only committed to saying ‘Fall 2023’ but now at SGF, it was confirmed that the studio is confident in the quality of the game and are finally ready to commit to a definitive release date.

Over on the PlayStation blog, details of the game’s Collector’s Edition were also unveiled. Let me tell you, it looks great although it will set you back £219.99/$229.99 and disappointedly, it only comes with a digital copy of the game. You will get a digital voucher code, a Steelbook case, plus a 19-inch statue featuring the leading Spider-Men battling Venom.
Pre-orders open on 16 June and if you pre-order any version of the game, you’ll nab some nifty bonuses too. All pre-orders come with an early unlock Arachknight Suit for Peter with three additional colour variants, an early unlock Shadow Spider Suit for Miles with three additional colour variants, an early unlock Web Grabber gadget, and three skill points.
