Remasters are pretty common these days, whether we like it or not, but with classic games not receiving the updates they so desperately deserve, players are understandably feeling annoyed.
With games such as Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us receiving remasters despite the former being less than a decade old, classics from the late 90s and early 00s are being left in the dust.

However, with the news that 2004’s Star Wars: Battlefront would be receiving a remake and remaster, it has got fans thinking about another hit title that could follow suit.

First released in 2003, Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is an award-winning hack-and-slash action game developed by EA Redwood Shores for the PlayStation 2 and PC.
As an adaptation of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the game was an instant success and considered even better than its predecessor, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers which had been released a year prior.
With fans praising its graphics, audio and gameplay but finding fault with its short length and camera positioning, it was an overall positive experience so it is no wonder that fans would love to see it brought to modern-day consoles.
The discussion kicked off earlier this year over on r/gaming when user Alisalard1384 posted a screenshot of the 2003 game’s character select menu.

“Since they're remastering and re-releasing OG Star Wars: Battlefronts, they should also do the same with Return Of The King," they wrote.
Judging by the comments, they are not the only ones.
“This game was amazing. There aren't many games I've replayed as much as this one,” the top comment by Few_Run3582 read.
Another read: “This game on PC with multiplayer would be one of my three genie wishes.”
