So, there it is. We know very, very little about the sequel to 2019’s Joker, other than the fact that it exists and will be titled Joker: Folie á Deux, but we just got some pretty big news about one of its main cast members.
Joining Joaquin Phoenix, who’ll be reprising his role as the titular Joker, Lady Gaga has now confirmed that she’ll be starring in the movie too - seemingly as Harley Quinn. The whole thing was revealed in a short teaser video posted to Twitter.
This exact casting was previously circulating around the rumour mill, and, lo and behold, it’s actually true. Which, y’know, definitely makes you wonder if the rumours about the movie being a musical are true, too - it’d make even more sense now considering Lady Gaga’s involvement.

Gaga's tweet also confirms previous reports that the release date for Folie á Deux will be 4 October 2024, which is a pretty massive wait. Apparently, production is set to begin this December, but that’s not been officially confirmed.
The director, Todd Phillips, has previously worked with Gaga, as he worked as a producer on A Star Is Born (2018), which wasn’t a musical, but was very music heavy. I’ll admit I’m now incredibly curious to see where this sequel is going.
