Jeremy Renner facing 'long road to recovery' after snow plough accident

Marvel star Jeremy Renner is in 'critical but stable' condition following a snow plough accident near to the actor's home in Nevada.

Actor Jeremy Renner, best known for portraying Hawkeye / Clint Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is facing a “long road to recovery” after undergoing two surgeries following a snow-ploughing accident that took place over the weekend near to the actor’s home in Reno, Nevada.

As reported by TMZ, Renner was ploughing snow around a quarter of a mile away from his Nevada family home following a snowstorm that took place on New Year’s Eve. It’s believed that the plough, a Snowcat, ran over one of the actor’s legs despite including safety features to stop such accidents from happening.

A neighbour, a doctor, was reportedly able to tourniquet Renner’s leg until emergency services arrived. Emergency services then arrived at 8pm on the evening of 1 January. The Snowcat plough has since been impounded by police.

Since then, Renner has undergone two surgeries at a Nevada hospital. “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries and has undergone surgery today (2 January),” his family said in a statement (Via Independent). “He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” they continued. According to Extra, Renner is “conscious, stable and speaking” although they added that the actor has a “long road to recovery”.

Well-wishes are pouring in online for the star, from both peers and fans. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn wrote, “My heart is with Jeremy Renner,” while Frozen actor Josh Gad added, “My God. Praying for Jeremy Renner and his family.” GAMINGbible also extends its well-wishes to both Renner and his family.
