Now that Daniel Craig has finally stepped away from the role of James Bond after an incredible 15-year run, fans are desperate to know: which actor will take the keys to the iconic spy's ridiculously kitted-out Aston Martin next?
A number of huge names have been attached in some shape or form over the years, including Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy. Even Ryan Reynolds (although he made it very clear he was only joking that one time).
Usually these actors get all tied up with James Bond because they've expressed interest in the role and everyone gets a little too excited. Sometimes, it's because their many fans have started a social media campaign (and every gets a little too excited). Whatever the case, these stories aren't usually terribly indicative of who will actually be playing Bond next, and is more than often than not just a fun look at who might be next.
With that said, consistent fan-favourite Idris Elba now looks to be an incredibly likely candidate for the next Bond. This comes in the wake of an intriguing comment from longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who acknowledged that the Luther star is very much "part of the conversation" when it comes to Craig's successor.
"Well, we know Idris, we're friends with him, and he's a magnificent actor," Broccoli told Deadline. "And, you know, it's been part of the conversation, but it's always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat."
As exciting as that is, fans may have to wait a little longer for the reveal of the next Bond. "I think we have decided that until No Time to Die has had its run and Daniel has been able to - well, we've all been able to savor, reap the benefits of Daniel's wonderful tenure, we're not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else," she explained.
