It’s felt like a long time coming, but Hogwarts Legacy is finally here and out of early access. Well, only if you have a PC or new-gen console - the wait is unfortunately even longer for everyone else.
Even before it released to the masses, Hogwarts Legacy managed to rack up over 300K players on Steam, which is absolutely huge. In fact, it’s already the platform’s most-played single-player game (and is the fifth most-played game out of all titles). This comes despite the fact that many are boycotting the title due to its association with J.K. Rowling, who has been criticised for making harmful comments about the trans community.

For the most part, reviews for the game have been very positive, and although there are one or two issues that players are hoping will get fixed at some point, it’s obviously been going down very well with fans. In fact, some are now comparing it to another beloved fantasy game series - Fable.

Over on Reddit, one player suggested that the game’s atmosphere gives off Fable vibes, and others are in total agreement.
“Yes! The Fable series are still my favourite games and as soon as I saw that glowing trail I knew the devs drew a lot of inspiration from there. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed,” wrote mushyoat. “This was literally what sold me on the game. Not a big Harry Potter fan and wasn't really sold on the gameplay or the hype but once I watched a bit of gameplay earlier this week and I saw that glowing trail, it reminded me of Fable and that goofy fantasy world vibe and I was sold,” replied CaptnKnots. “I always used to say Fable was [sic] the Harry Potter games we never got and here 15+ years later it feels like we finally got it. I love Fable and also had the same feeling playing this,” added Former_Bed_5038.
I imagine that time is passing very slowly right now for any fans who didn’t think ahead and book the day off today. It’s sure to be a magical weekend of gaming for them eventually, anyway.
