Hogwarts Legacy player solves castle secret that's been bugging us for months

Harry Potter fans have found the answer to a secret more tormenting than Tom Riddle and it’s been bugging Hogwarts Legacy players for months.

Released in 2023 and developed by Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy was a dream come true for fans of the Harry Potter franchise. Like never before have players been able to explore the chanting halls of Hogwarts Castle and take in all that Wizarding World aura that this action RPG has to offer.

What’s more, Hogwarts Legacy is a very big game and not just in terms of popularity; it once outsold the lifetime sales of Elden Ring in just five weeks. There’s just so much to do in the game from partaking in its main campaign, side activities, interacting with NPCs and much more.

So it’s also fair to say that Hogwarts Legacy is packed full of secrets, some of which are yet to be discovered. As spotted by Comicbook.com, one such secret has been tormenting players for months and it involves the beloved character, Professor Albus Dumbledore.

What makes this particular secret interesting is that not only is Hogwarts Legacy non-canon but being a prequel set in the 1890s, it was long before Dumbledore became a professor at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At this point, he was only enrolled as a student and was sorted into the Gryffindor house.

Avalanche Software has hidden loads of Easter eggs referring to the Harry Potter novels and movies. Gamers on Reddit had noticed an image of a Phoenix on a wall in Hogwarts Legacy, which is conveniently placed where Dumbledore’s office was in previous Harry Potter games.

For months, players thought that this was a hint to a potential puzzle but it turns out that it is simply a reference to the character or at least, that’s what we’re currently led to believe. It wouldn't surprise me that a year from now, this ends up being a puzzle to a secret room or something.

“There is a Phoenix on the wall in the same spot where Dumbledore’s office was in the older games,” said AdoraLovegood, sharing screenshots of the Easter egg in question.

“Oh, is that what that means? I thought it was another secret or puzzle, I've been trying to figure it out for ages,” exclaimed NienieDreamer.

“Wow. That is really cool. I had no idea because I didn’t play the older games. Neat how many little Easter eggs there are in this game,” replied Muted_Value_9271.

“Stuff like this is what shows the amount of love put into crafting Hogwarts Castle and the outer grounds,” said Actual-Excitement975.
