Hogwarts Legacy is finally out which means players now have access to its massive open world. Exploring alone is fun, but exploring with a friend is better. The problem is, Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t offer a multiplayer option but one group of fans have taken the matter into their own hands.

Already, Hogwarts Legacy is the most successful Harry Potter game of all time, despite the fact that it's only been out for a couple of days. In fact, its sales are 80% up on where Elden Ring’s were when it released this time last year and we all know how popular that game proved to be. Fans are already hailing Hogwarts Legacy as ‘GOTY material,’ with many saying that Hogwarts is their favourite video game location to date. There is still an appetite for a multiplayer add on though.

The team behind the Skyrim multiplayer mod Together Reborn are currently working on a Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer mod called ‘HogWarp.’ It’s now been confirmed that the mod could allow up to eight people to play together at once. The mod is only in the early stages of development but already, the creators have a working test build. It goes without saying that the mod will only be available to those playing the game on PC.

In a statement, the mod’s creator Yamashi told PC Gamer, “Our aim is to figure out how to do the basics such as spawning characters with the player's appearance, animations and NPCs. We are not going to create any multiplayer specific content ourselves, we want to provide a stable framework so that people can enjoy the vanilla game and maybe extend it themselves later on.”

This means that there will be no multiplayer side quests but you and your pals can run around Hogwarts together, go explore the Forbidden Forest, or practise your duelling. You can now download the test build but the mod won’t have full functionality for several months.
