If you sat down to continue your Hogwarts Legacy playthrough last night, you would’ve been hit with a slight delay in the form of a major update. On the whole, Hogwarts Legacy was launched in a pretty solid state, but that’s not to say it’s perfect and Avalanche Software have now released fixes for some of the title’s most pressing problems.
If you hadn’t heard - and it’s inescapable - Hogwarts Legacy is a major commercial success. It’s the best-selling non-FIFA release in a generation and is the most successful Harry Potter game of all time. It shifted a whopping 12 million copies in the first two weeks of release, plus the game is yet to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch so these figures will continue to grow. The previous-gen versions were delayed just a few days ago as devs want to release them in the best possible state which leads us nicely into examining what the latest Hogwarts Legacy update actually addresses.
We knew it was going to happen. Someone has modded PS1 Hagrid into the game. Take a look below.
The update is said to address “overall gameplay, performance and stability as well as online connection improvements,” according to the patch notes but let’s dive into exactly what’s changed. The update has applied a fix for characters getting lodged or stuck in furniture or environments, added missing exit prompts, fixed star brightness during Astronomy mini-games, fixed broom landing on Viaduct bridge, fixed broom speed parameters, fixed female avatar face appearing different from the creation preview, improved tracking for Room of Requirement, updated facial animations, improved raytracing and lip-syncing, and improved DualSense LED effects.

It also improved memory usage for PS5 players, fixed instances of infinite loading screens, removed fog volumes to enhance performance, fixed instances of an incorrect path to the Map Chamber being shown, and fixed visual issues surrounding enemy shields. Phew, that was a lot - and that’s only scratching the surface. The update also fixes multiple instances of crashing and you can read through every single one of those fixes in the handy patch notes.
In related news, it looks as if Hogwarts Legacy is getting a sequel. Warner Bros are understandably thrilled with the commercial response to the game and have teased that they’re excited for its future. I bet.
