Triss Merigold or Yennefer of Vengerberg, is the age-old question that has plagued our minds since the dawn of civilization. Well, ok, that’s a slight exaggeration, but it is a troublesome question nonetheless.

It’s a question asked in the The Witcher video game series, more specifically, in the third game from CD Projekt RED but as of yet, it’s not been confronted in the live-action Netflix adaptation. At least until now, Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill has been smoochy with Yennefer, played by Anya Chalotra, but give it time.

Come to think of it, if Geralt and Triss do get some McLovin in the Netflix series, Geralt won't be played by Henry Cavil, but will instead be played by Liam Hemsworth, which is going to take some getting used to. Though, we’ll cross that Velen bridge when the time arrives.

In terms of appearances, Yennefer made her debut in 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, whereas Triss has been in the video games since the very beginning. However, both characters have appeared since the very start of the Netflix series.

That being said, during a fan convention, in a video uploaded to the Digital Spy YouTube channel, former actor of Geralt of Rivia, Henry Cavill was asked the apparent age-old question, “Triss Merigold or Yennefer of Vengerberg?” and the actor said that he always picks Yennefer.

“For me, when I played the games, and especially when I read the [Andrzej Sapkowski's] books, it's always been. I feel true to Geralt's core that it's team Yennefer,” replied Cavill. “Of course, the great thing about the games is that you can do whatever you want, but for me, even in the games, it’s team Yennefer.”

At the time of writing, season four of The Witcher Netflix series does not have a release date but it is expected to be released sometime during early 2025. We can't wait to see what Liam Hemsworth looks like as Geralt of Rivia. Will he look great or will he look cursed? Only time will tell.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
