Harry Potter fans will be left furious over a scene that was cut from the first movie, the Philosopher's Stone in 2001.
It’s no secret that movies have scenes cut before the final version is released in cinemas. In fact, deleted scenes are arguably the best part of the bonus features of any home video release. After all, we get a look at what could have been in a favourite or least favourite scene.
What’s more, the same can be said when adapting novels to the big or small screen. Some novels are just too big for some adaptations and more often than not, sacrifices will have to be made.
As reported by UNILAD, one such sacrifice takes place in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The scene in question would have warmed our hearts to the goofball that is Ron Weasley more than it already was.

The scene we speak of takes place as the residents of Hogwarts are clearing out ready to go home for Christmas. Just a heads up, I’m about to mention spoilers in relation to Harry Potter’s parents. So you have been warned.
Harry Potter is an orphan and his parents were killed when he was just a baby. In the first Harry Potter novel/movie there is a magical mirror called the Mirror of Erised. Basically, this mirror lets you see what your heart wants most.
Feeling very sorry for himself with it being Christmas, Harry takes a visit to the Mirror of Erised and sees his parents. Now, those of you that have watched the first movie, would know that we do in fact see this scene.
However, what we don’t see is Ron Weasley console his good friend, Harry. This scene was cut from the movie, but has now surfaced on the internet.

The clip sees Harry sat in the Great Hall feeling sad, until Ron offers to play a game of chess as well as paying a visit to good ole Hagrid (rest Robbie Coltrane’s soul). That’s before telling Harry that there’s something not quite right about the Mirror of Erised.
It’s a shame that this charming scene was cut from the movie. However, at least we can finally watch this scene after 20 long years. Perhaps we might get to see it properly, should we ever get a three-hour cut of Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone?
In releated news, the recent smash hit success that is action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy has turned some gamers into Harry Potter fans.
