Remember when the biggest controversy around the Halo TV show was over whether or not Master Chief should take his helmet off? Simpler times. Halcyon days.
The live-action Halo series has certainly taken Master Chief to some pretty unexpected places over the course of this first season. We've seen much more of his face for the first time ever, for one thing. Then there was that time he got his butt out. Now, because I guess the show is trying to freak fans out at this point, Master Chief has had sex.
In the latest episode of Halo, titled 'Allegiance', the Chief has sex with a human-turned Covenant spy while Cortana just sort of... stands there and watches. Or it looks that way, at least. A colleague has subsequently pointed out that Cortana is somewhere different and the whole thing was just edited in a weird way, which is definitely still an odd choice. They knew what they were doing.

It is, by far, one of the most sexless sex scenes I've ever seen, by the way. The pair start kissing, then it cuts, then they're naked in bed presumably having already done their business. You can check out the clip below, which amusingly clocks in at just one minute long. I guess it was Chief's first time.
Predictably, the Halo fandom has lost its mind. I don't pretend to be the biggest fan of Halo, but this is certainly, as far as I'm aware, the first time Master Chief has gotten laid in any of the mainstream media. Maybe he gets his end away in one of the books or comics, I don't know. Feel free to message me the details, uber-fans.
To many, it seems it was less the fact Master Chief had sex and more who he had sex with. A few hardcore fans are actually now speculating that this brief dalliance with the enemy could lead to the fall of Reach, a human planetary colony whose destruction ultimately sets the stage for the original Halo trilogy and is the main setting of 2010's incredible Halo: Reach.

Whether or not this turns out to be true remains to be seen, but it's pretty clear that the writers didn't simply chuck in a sex scene for no reason. For better or worse, this meme-worthy moment will have big consequences for the future of the Halo series.
