Halo Blood Gulch is hailed as one of the best multiplayer maps ever made by fans, do you agree?
Despite being not the most technical multiplayer map, there is little question that Halo’s Blood Gulch is amongst the most iconic of all time. First making its debut in 2001 in Halo: Combat Evolved, many fans back in the day lost countless hours battling out with friends locally for endless hours.
To this day, Blood Gulch is still held in high regard by veteran and new fans alike. Over the years, this map has seen various iterations, however, there’s something special about the OG map that started it all in the legendary Xbox franchise.

Fans have been having a nostalgia-filled discussion on Reddit about what the Blood Gulch map means to them. “One of the greatest multiplayer levels ever made…” Redditor bapplebo kicked off the topic of discussion.
“I remember the dark ages before Xbox Live where we set up an 8 on 8 LAN party with each 4-man squad in separate rooms of the house,” recalled Uberslaughter. “Some of my favourite memories - sniping Ghost drivers, blowing a full Warthog up with a tank right as it was getting back to their base with the flag. Great and simpler times.”

“I remember when my dad wanted me to teach him how to play Halo. He didn’t play video games but always wanted to try and support what I was interested in,” shared slothsandwhich. “I booted up Blood Gulch and he loved just driving around in the Scorpion shooting random shit. He passed away almost 10 years ago and I miss him every day. Thank you, OP for helping me remember that!”
“This is why Infinite died. If they released it with this map on launch we would all still be playing,” exclaimed flibble24. I understand the sentiment of what this Redditor is saying, but I think the shortcomings of Halo Infinite were down to a lot more than Blood Gulch not being available at launch.
Back in January 2023, a former Halo developer claimed that Microsoft had set the series up for failure. Ouch! Halo Infinite is available now for PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
