However, according to a recent report from Twitter user Bathrobe Spartan, development for a future Halo title is more dire than it seems and we are not expected to hear an update from 343 Industries or Xbox for quite a long time.
The user attributes this to quite a few issues including the most prevalent; the current state of 343 Industries. It appears its development team has been “thinned out” in recent years both due to people leaving willingly and others getting laid off.
Although there are rumoured to be around 300 members of staff left, the majority of these are expected to be working in the business side of game development which would leave a skeleton crew working on the game’s actual development.
Additionally, Bathrobe Spartan claims that 343 Industries is dedicated to hiring contractors over long-term employees which is what they reportedly did for Halo Infinite. Not only that but Infinite also did not meet its financial goals which was a big blow for the company.

As a result, it remains to be seen when fans can expect Halo 7 but with so many issues in its development team, it may unfortunately be a long way off.
