It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for GTA VI’s release now. Well, actually, not just its release - even a trailer would be nice. One insider recently claimed that an announcement could be coming this month, which would be lovely to believe, but we’ve heard that one plenty of times before, haven’t we?
Anyway, there’s a good reason why the game is taking so long. As reported by PC Gamer, the CEO of GTA publisher Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, has basically said that it’s because every one of the company's games is fantastic when it releases, and that’s more important than rushing a game out.
Before we get into it, take a look at some of our favourite wins and fails from GTA V below.
"We definitely have very high quality expectations and demands, and that's reflected in the fact that we're performing across the board," Zelnick said during a quarterly talk with investors. "This company is a hit factory. We haven't had a disappointing release in as long as I can remember, and that's honestly the most important thing."

Referring to some lower projected sales for the current fiscal year, he continued: "If you have to choose, I'd much rather have the situation we're in, which is [that] we've had some delays and we've had to revise down guidance. I'll choose that any day over taking some flops. That's really the key in this business.
"We've had issues - we’ve been around long enough to remember them - where in the past we've had delays in titles, and it was ultimately always worth waiting for, because when we got to the other side, the results were delivered and the small amount of time delay didn't ultimately matter in the context of the results we were able to deliver. I'm hopeful that'll be the case here as well."
Thanks to the colossal GTA VI leaks from earlier this year, we can be assured that development on the title is well underway, but there’s probably still quite a wait ahead. Hopefully, it'll be worth it in the end.
