GTA fans mourn after cancelled Rockstar Games project surfaces

Although Grand Theft Auto fans have the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI to look forward to, recent news has revealed that Rockstar scrapped quite an exciting project and fans are not happy.

I don’t know about you but one of the highlights of Grand Theft Auto V was its characters and Trevor was no exception. Played by Steven Ogg, the loveable yet unpredictable criminal definitely made a name for himself.

Take another look at the official GTA VI trailer below!

However, according to a recent interview featuring Ogg himself, we now know that a Grand Theft Auto V project was reportedly shelved by Rockstar and fans mourn what could have been.

Cancellations continue to take place at Rockstar following the recent mass layoffs which saw $140 million worth of projects at Take-Two Interactive thrown on the scrap heap, although this particular GTA V spin-off would've been canned years prior.

During a chat with the rest of the GTA V cast, Ogg explained how Trevor had been penned to play “James Bond Trevor”. We can only imagine what this would entail but we may never know thanks to the project being scrapped despite already shooting content for it.

Ogg goes on to express his confusion over why the project was scrapped but fellow GTA V star Ned Luke who played Michael, claims it was “for that stuff”, referring to GTA Online.

It seems as though it is not just Luke that thinks Rockstar prioritised GTA Online instead of this project and fans were quick to express their disappointment over the choice.

“Such a missed opportunity. Sounds like the actors had a lot of fun working on it,” read one reply.

Another said: “Classic modern Rockstar. It’s cool to know they filmed it though, so it was probably deep in development. I wonder why it was cancelled? Yes, GTA: Online, but they spent money on it, why not ship it?

Who knows? Maybe one day the project will be unearthed and we can see the loveable GTA V trio take to the screen again. For now, let us just hope Grand Theft Auto VI is still on the right track.
