GTA 6 price leaves some fans concerned

The most anticipated game of the decade isn't going to come cheap

Some Grand Theft Auto fans think GTA VI isn’t going to turn a profit, and others think that’s a preposterous idea.

We’ve waited for GTA VI so long now that I don’t think any of us are expecting anything short of perfection, especially after back-to-back bangers with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Take a look at the first and only trailer for GTA VI below

Recently it was said that Rockstar Games has spent over $2 billion on the development of GTA VI, and while that’s a lot of money to pour into one video game, it’ll undoubtedly make that money back with its initial sales.

That being said some fans think it won’t, and it has kicked several major arguments online about it.

One Reddit thread drew attention to a tweet that said, “There is no way on God’s Green Earth this thing [GTA VI] can possibly make its money back.”

The thread responded by saying, “Did these people forget how much money GTA V made on day one, when people didn’t even know if they would like it or not?”

Given the facts, it seems unlikely GTA VI will make its money back on the first day of release, even with all the hype surrounding the game, but it’ll easily do it by the end of its first week.

Failing that, you just know it’ll have an enormous online multiplayer element with plenty of updates over time, probably funded through microtransactions like GTA V Online was.

With all of that in mind, there’s no doubt Rockstar Games will turn a profit on the game, even if the cost of hardware to run it is more expensive than it was in the early GTA V days.

GTA VI’s release date is nowhere in sight at the time of writing, with the game expected to drop sometime towards the end of 2025, as long as there are no unexpected delays.
