So, that happened, huh? Just in case you happened to be away somewhere without Wi-Fi for the last few days, a huge leak of the next Grand Theft Auto game surfaced online, complete with gameplay footage. Rockstar Games confirmed yesterday that the company had “suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorised third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto”.

The footage seemingly lines up with a previous leak, which claimed that GTA VI would have a pair of playable protagonists inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, and that one of these would be a Latina woman. The same leak also claimed that the game would take place in Vice City, which it does appear to. Based on this, Den of Geek speculates that the upcoming title could include a location which was missing from the original Vice City.

Vice City is, of course, a fictional version of Miami, but the 2002 title was missing the Florida Keys which are accessible via the Seven Mile Bridge in real life. Den of Geek claims that some of the leaked gameplay footage seemed to show a huge bridge in the background, which apparently looked very similar to that aforementioned real bridge. If so, it seems that there’s a good chance that a GTA version of the Florida Keys could be included in the upcoming title, which would be really exciting.
As of now though, this is pure speculation. There’s no doubt that fans are going to be unpacking the details of this leak for weeks to come.
