The arrival of the second official Grand Theft Auto VI trailer is imminent but in the meantime, fans are looking back at the first one and marveling over its stunning footage.
Released on 4 December, making it almost a year since we had our first official look at Grand Theft Auto VI, the trailer almost broke the internet after amassing over 93 million views in just a 24-hour period.
Tomorrow celebrates the one-year anniversary of our first official GTA VI trailer!
Since then, Rockstar Games has remained pretty tight-lipped about what is perhaps its most anticipated game of all time so fans have had to make do with the crumbs they have been given.

That is why now, a year on, they are looking back at the footage from the first trailer and comparing its next-generation graphics to other big games.
Shared on the GTA 6 Countdown Twitter account, one post showed comparison images between the GTA VI trailer and Far Cry 5 which was released back in 2018.
The GTA VI image shows one of our new protagonists, Lucia, in her prison garb with sunlight streaming onto her face. It looks pretty impressive, especially for in-game footage.
In comparison, the image taken from Far Cry 5 is a CGI cutscene, and although looking equally as impressive, we all know that cutscenes are a lot more graphically impressive than in-game footage.
So can we expect Grand Theft Auto VI to maintain these standards when it releases some time during fall 2025?

Fans in the comments seem to think so.
“Only Rockstar can make in-game footage that looks better than actual CGI,” one comment read.
Another said: “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve finally reached the landmark in gaming where in-engine cutscenes are convincing enough to look like pre-rendered cutscenes.”
With another trailer on the way, we can expect a lot more comparisons over the upcoming weeks but until then, it’s back to waiting.
