This Grinch inspired Christmas horror film will haunt your nightmares

The Mean One is a Grinch parody horror film set to hit cinemas on 9 December, and it will destroy your childhood.

Counting today, there are just two days left of November, which means it’s basically December, right? If you celebrate the festive season, you’d better get ready to do some decorating - Michael Bublé is pretty much defrosted and ready to go at this point.

December for a lot of people is a time to binge Christmas movies, and there are few more iconic than How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Based on Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name, the 2000 film stars Jim Carrey as the titular hairy, green, Christmas-hating icon, and personally, I can’t go through the month of December without watching it at least once. This year though, a new Grinch parody movie is hitting cinemas, and it puts a very dark spin on the beloved festive tale.

Check out the trailer for The Mean One right here - be warned, it’ll destroy your childhood.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, The Mean One is being directed by Steven LaMorte, and stars David Howard Thornton (AKA Art the Clown from the Terrifier films) as the titular baddie. Unlike with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Dr. Seuss’ Grinch isn’t in the public domain at all, so it’s pretty amazing that this has actually managed to get off the ground, but it’s coming to cinemas in the US on 9 December, just in time for Christmas.

The story takes place in the town of Newville - Cindy You-Know-Who (played by Krystle Martin) is visiting to find closure after her mother was killed by the Mean One 20 years ago. However, upon her return, it’s discovered that the Mean One is once again out for blood, and in an attempt to end his tyranny forever, Cindy sets out to kill him. How very festive.

Looking at the trailer, it doesn’t look like it’s going to win any awards, but it could be funny, and there’s not long to wait until its release.
