God Of War 2 Unreal Engine 5 remake trailer stuns

Kratos looks so good remade in the Unreal Engine

The year is 2005. Onto our screens steps a bald-headed god who will fast become a beloved character, his gravelly tones and angry-set face adding to his gruff charms.

Since that day, God of War has been a franchise loved by many, with God of War Ragnarök the most recent title to leave us in awe of the fantastical worlds we can traverse. Still, while the praise for that title continues, especially since seeing in its first birthday, many fans long for a return to the first two games.

Watch and listen to the Myths of God of War Ragnarök to set the mood.

Unfortunately, there’s no news that remakes of either of those stellar games are in the works. Instead, many eyes are on the teasers and rumours circulating regarding the Ragnarök sequel. But not all eyes. Some hardworking, loyal fans have poured a lot of time and energy into envisioning what God of War II would look like with contemporary graphics.

Let me say, it’s a thing of pure beauty.

Whilst watching it, I almost forgot that this was a fan-made project and started to get my hopes up that this was the real deal. Then reality came crashing back down. Yet, while it’s sad that this is still only a glimpse at what could be, it’s one that expertly highlights how in-demand a remake is.

“Man, you've officially accomplished what I've been dreaming about for years. I hope there is a remaster of this game,” said on YouTuber upon seeing the majesty of GOWII using Unreal Engine 5. Another quickly added, “We SERIOUSLY need a remake of the previous games, ASAP.” Take a look at the video below.

This remake would go so hard, but for now, it’ll remain unmade. Not that it’s all bad news – while 00s Kratos has to live on in blocky graphics, we can at least watch an older, more ticked-off Kratos facing Jesus Christ, just like Jacksepticeye predicted. It’s a fun animation that adds another piece of non-canon magic to the franchise, while also hinting at what could happen if the sequels decide to take a different turn. I suspect they won’t, but at least we’ll always have Kratos getting in some solid bants with JC.
