Can you believe that Ghost of Tsushima is two years old already? Sunday (17 July) marked the anniversary of the title’s original release on PS4 (not the 2021 Director’s Cut edition, time isn’t moving that fast, don’t worry).
As Eurogamer reports, in celebration, developers Sucker Punch took to Twitter to reveal some nifty stats about the title, which have been building up since launch. Did you know that players have collectively managed to pet 75.18 million foxes? Personally, I’d say that number isn’t high enough, but good effort regardless.
Take a look at the trailer for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut below.
Anyway, it was also announced that as of 3 July, the game has sold a huge 9.73 million copies. That’s including both the standard and Director’s Cut editions, by the way. You may remember that it was only in January that the game had sold eight million copies, so it’s managed almost two million more in just six months, which is also pretty dang impressive for a title which is, again, now two years old.
Advert
“This weekend marks two years since the release of #GhostOfTsushima,” Sucker Punch wrote on Twitter. “We are blown away by all of the support since then and so grateful for all of you! Thank you to everyone who has played and shared this journey with us!”
Last month, it was uncovered by way of a job listing that the devs may be working on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima as we speak. The listing (which is still live at the time of writing) reveals that the studio are on the lookout for someone who can “deliver interesting and varied encounters in an open-world game, with a particular focus on melee combat and stealth”. I don’t know about you, but that definitely sounds like a sequel to me. If this is true though, clearly it wasn’t the plan to announce anything for the two year anniversary, or it’d have been revealed yesterday, so we’ll just have to keep an eye out for any news.
