'Fortnite' Has Removed Building From Its Battle Royale Mode

Those who think they can battle without building will also help raise money for Ukraine.

While this title may sound like complete fibs, it's all 100% true. Epic Games have announced that it has removed the main thing that makes its take on the battle royale genre unique. The building.

Back in the day when the burgeoning genre was just starting to take over the world of gaming, it was not Fortnite which stood proudly above the masses, but PUBG. Then Fortnite came along with its goofy characters, dancing emotes and crazy building mechanics giving cover and the high ground, and it wasn't long before people migrated to the latest craze.

If you want to see all the changes Epic are making to Fortnite, you can take a look at the trailer below.

Chapter three of the latest Fortnite season is bringing with it a new storyline. From 20 March to 3 April, battling against the Imagined Orders you will be unable to use the mechanic which made Fortnite so popular. No building walls for cover, or towers to gain the greater height advantage.

As transcribed by VGC the loading screen for the new chapter reads “All Battle, No Building. Building has been wiped out. It’s up to the Resistance to get it back. Jump in with your squad and help The Seven uncover the Imagined Orders nefarious plan.”

The trailer has a whole host of other changes, from extra shields to incoming blimps which you can read about in their entirety on its website. Alongside the new chapter announcement, Epic Games has said it will be donating all the profits gained during its ban on building towards Humanitarian Relief for Ukraine.

So seems you can dress up as Doctor Strange, see if you have skills beyond building, and make money for Ukraine all at the same time. Seems like a win, win, win to me.
