Despite knowing very little about the upcoming Fallout 5, vault-dwelling fans are still as excited as ever and this subtle update might be music to their ears.
The last numbered mainline entry in the series is Fallout 4, originally released in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and this year, it benefited from a free new-gen update. However, taking into account spin-offs, the MMORPG, Fallout 76 was released in 2018.

We know that Fallout 5 will likely be the next game in the series, after all, it’s been confirmed by Bethesda head honcho, Todd Howard. Sadly though, not only do we not have a release date, but many suspect Fallout 5 could be a next-gen title.

What’s more, now that the main development of Bethesda’s other RPG, Starfield is out of the way, fans would like to think that the focus has now shifted to the highly anticipated Fallout 5 but it seems that focus will also remain on the aforementioned Fallout 76.
When speaking to TheGamer, Fallout 76 creative director Jon Rush was asked whether the upcoming Fallout 5 would hurt the MMORPG spin-off.
“Absolutely not,” said Rush. "I can understand that perspective, watching from the outside in, but no, absolutely not. If anything, when Fallout 5 does come out, it'll make it even more impactful. But [Fallout 76] isn't holding anything back.”
While that isn't a major update on Fallout 5, it’s at the very least another suggestion by Bethesda that it’s in the works and it’s also great news for fans of Fallout 76 because it seems like that MMORPG won't be ditched anytime soon.

If you want to play the Fallout series at no extra cost, a large chunk of its titles is available with an Xbox Game Pass subscription from Fallout 3 onwards. Just try not to get killed by giant mutated cockroaches, those things are horrid.
