Elder Scrolls fans are convinced the game will be released sometime in 2026, wishful thinking but it’s not entirely impossible.
Despite being first announced with a teaser trailer all the way back in 2018, we’ve seen absolutely nothing from Bethesda in regards to The Elder Scrolls VI.
See that teaser trailer for yourself below.
The highly-anticipated sequel for the Elder Scrolls series will arguably be Bethesda’s biggest game yet, and despite a wave of disappointment following the Starfield release, fans are adamant that the next game will be pure quality.

Unfortunately, aside from the odd word or two from Todd Howard, or speculation from ex-Bethesda developers as to what the company could be planning, we have no idea when the game will release or what’ll be in it.
But fans are simply taking the radio-silence as an opportunity to draw their own conclusions as to when the game might be coming out, probably for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC and potentially next-gen platforms.
In a Reddit thread the release date has been narrowed down to sometime in 2026, with evidence coming from leaked court documents during the Microsoft V FTC trial.
According to the documents, the game would have been released this year, 2024, if it wasn’t for COVID-19 hindering the development process, with the new year of release being 2026.

The thread also mentioned how Todd Howard reportedly likes “having big 15 year gaps between games,” and with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim originally releasing in 2011, 2026 would make the most sense for the next instalment.
Of course, all of this is speculation and should be taken with a pinch of salt, though the evidence does somewhat justify the theory.
All we can do now is wait for an official announcement from Bethesda, and then the wait can begin for the developer’s next game, Fallout 5…
