The Elder Scrolls VI is a game that was officially revealed six years ago yet we still don’t even have a release date or a release window. What gives, Bethesda?
When Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls VI was on the way during an exciting E3 2018 reveal, it was the talk of the video game industry with passionate fans of the fantasy RPG keen for their next adventure in Tamriel. Yet, at least officially, we don’t know when that day will come.

At this point, we don’t even know where The Elder Scrolls VI will be set, sure, we know it will be in Tamriel but we don't know its exact location. The closest inkling that we’ve had was seemingly teased in Starfield years ago which might imply that The Elder Scrolls VI could be set in High Rock or Hammerfell.
Advert
As for when The Elder Scrolls VI might be released, that’s anyone’s guess. During Microsoft’s court battle with the FTC over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard (which it won), official documents suggested that it might be released in 2026 despite Xbox chief Phil Spencer suggesting that its release could be even further away.
To be honest, a 2026 release date could be possible but then it’s also not outside the realms of possibility that it might be released the following year or more. Either way, until Bethesda makes a new announcement regarding The Elder Scrolls VI, we should take all reports and speculation with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
Either way, whenever The Elder Scrolls VI may arrive and on what platforms, hopefully, it will knock it out of the park and it will be a worthy sequel to Skyrim. Whether that’s overly optimistic or not, only time will tell.
