It's looking increasingly unlikely that we'll be seeing The Elder Scrolls VI release any time soon. Certainly, fans are lining up the dates and it looks less and less likely that it'll launch on this generation of consoles.

There's so much we still don't know about The Elder Scrolls VI, though there have been some leaks in the last few weeks.

The big question remains when the next Elder Scrolls will launch, and whether it will actually come to Xbox Series X when it does.

Looking at the rumoured dates, it's certainly not a positive picture. Previously leaked court documents put The Elder Scrolls VI at between 2026 and 2028. Assuming 2026 is incredibly optimistic (the game has only been in full development for around a year), we can probably assume 2028 at the earliest.

Conventional thinking also puts the launch of the next-gen consoles from both PlayStation and Xbox at around 2028, which... would rather suggest The Elder Scrolls VI isn't hitting this gen. That's what the fans seem to think, anyway, and it adds up.

“Prediction: We aren't getting The Elder Scrolls VI this generation,” exclaimed Not_a_creativeuser on the unreleased game's subreddit. “Hear me out. Since Bethesda is Microsoft-owned now and they have apparently talked about making it exclusive, they might use this to their advantage. I hate console wars, but the fact of the matter is. To them, bringing people to their platform is important.

“This Gen PS5 outsold the Xbox Series S and X combined. It wasn't even close,” they continued. “If they make The Elder Scrolls VI a launch title for the next-gen Xbox, they might think more people would be directed towards its platform since The Elder Scrolls VI is the only ace up its sleeve. My guess is 2027-2028 or later.”

Take all of this with a pinch of salt for now, of course. We'll have to wait and see what Bethesda has planned.
