The Elder Scrolls VI is set to launch God knows when but in the meantime, gamers aren’t short of things to play.

For those on the hunt for something that’s like The Elder Scrolls but not made by Bethesda, your choices are oddly plentiful.

Take Fatekeeper for example, an upcoming AAA action RPG that’s due to launch at some point down the line, and might scratch that itch you’re feeling while you wait for The Elder Scrolls VI.

If you take a glance at Fatekeeper’s Steam page, its description reads: “Venture into a handcrafted world where ruins whisper of past cataclysms. Master the art of sword and sorcery and forge your path with relics, spells and choices that shape who you become in this first-person RPG.”

Gameplay-wise, it’s very reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls. First-person, a medieval theme, puzzles to solve, monsters to slay with a variety of weapons ... the inspiration is clear to see. There’s also an in-depth magic system for those that love to play these types of games as a mage.

While Fatekeeper isn’t out yet, it’s said that early-access will begin sometime in 2026, for PC players only though I’m afraid.

The game is also planned to launch on consoles at some point but for now, it’s the Steam release that you need to keep an eye on.

Now we’re not saying Fatekeeper is an Elder Scrolls VI killer, but it does look bloody good and if it launches before Bethesda’s next RPG, it looks like it’ll be well-worth a play.

What Else Should You Be Playing Before The Elder Scrolls VI?

Fatekeeper aside, there is another game I’d recommend you give a go if you haven’t already, especially if you’re an Elder Scrolls fan.

It’s none other than Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment’s fantasy RPG that launched early this year.

Since it was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, many thought this would be what Fallout: New Vegas was to the Fallout franchise, but for The Elder Scrolls. What I mean is many gamers expected Obsidian to produce a better Elder Scrolls-like game than Bethesda ever did, leading to disappointment when the game was released as many had set their expectations a little high.

Don’t let the lack of hype around this game fool you though, as while it isn’t perfect, it’s a solid RPG, and more content is set to drop for it sometime in 2026, so now’s as good of a time as any to give it a try.
