Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree publisher drops tip for those struggling with the difficulty

Here's some help to Git Gud

Elden Ring is not only one of the best video games to be released by FromSoftware but it’s also considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time and recently, we were treated to its highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

When Elden Ring was released in February 2022, it became yet another instant classic for FromSoftware, who had already treated us to the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to name a few. On the aggregate website Metacritic, Elden Ring scored 96, while Shadow of the Erdtree scored 95, both earning the “Must Play” accolade.

In our review of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, we said it’s “a fitting conclusion to FromSoftware’s biggest, and most-successful title to date. It guides the player by the hand into a brand-new world of mystery and intrigue, treats them to some of the most memorable fights in the series, and rounds things off the only way FromSoftware knows how, leaving you wondering what the hell just happened.”

As any fan of FromSoftware will know, when it comes to difficulty, the developer's games are up there with the most challenging in the industry. What’s more, it seems that FromSoftware likes to up the difficulty in expansions as we’ve seen in the likes of Dark Souls III expansion The Ringed City and Bloodborne expansion The Old Hunters.

So it should come as no surprise that Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring is no exception, despite some giving the expansion negative reviews on the PC platform Steam due to its increased difficulty. Naturally, the publisher Bandai Namco is aware of the difficulty of the expansion and for those struggling, has dropped some helpful tips for fans.

On the official Bandai Namco Twitter account, players have been advised to level up the Scadutree Blessing. In a nutshell, Scadutree Blessing gives you a 4% damage boost and reduces damage taken to your health bar by 2%.

This may only seem like a small boost, but the higher level your character is, the more of an impact that the Scadutree Blessing will have on your build. So this is very helpful advice indeed and one that I shall be taking note of.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
