Elden Ring is not only one of the best video games to release in recent years, but it is also considered to be one of the greatest of all time, and we totally agree.
Developed by legendary studio FromSoftware, when Elden Ring was released in February 2022, it impressed reviewers and fans alike greatly, garnering scores in the mid-90s and above on aggregate websites such as Metacritic.

In our review of Elden Ring, we said it’s: “a constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware’s tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

During its opening weeks of sale, Elden Ring sold over an impressive 20 million units worldwide pretty much guaranteeing that a sequel is inevitable but not before its upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. Still, it would be nice to get official confirmation from the powers that be that one day, we’ll be treated to a new entry.
Well, it seems that fans will eventually get their wish, as subtly confirmed by FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki. As shared in a Reddit post, Miyazaki-san all but confirmed that a sequel is likely with some of the elements of the original Elden Ring being saved for the future. “Some lore bit clarifications and reveals are being saved for future games,” he said in an ‘Elden Ring Future Press Guide’.
Obviously, this is by no means official confirmation that Elden Ring 2 is on the way, but considering the words of Miyazaki-san and the success of the original game, it wouldn't be a surprise if we were one day treated to a sequel, whenever that may be. Plus, FromSoftware does like its sequels as evident with the likes of Armored Core and Dark Souls.
Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
