Sometimes an online job advert can give us a little sneak peek behind the scenes at a game studio, perhaps even hinting at a future project.

Recently, a job advert appeared for CD Projekt Red, as reported by Game Rant, and it points to the company diversifying further away from video games.

Could this job listing point to more Cyberpunk TV shows?

As per the advert, CD Projekt Red is looking for a ‘writer/editor’ who will be tasked with “writing scripts in English for comic books, TV, and movies.”

This can only mean an expansion of the two properties the developer licenses.

However, in regards to The Witcher, Netflix already has the rights to TV properties, and books are left to the owner of the IP, Andrzej Sapkowski.

This means that only Cyberpunk 2077 is left on the table, and while the sequel to that game is a way off, CD Projekt Red could be looking at developing their own TV show or film based on the IP.

Involving the developer in a process usually left to the rights holder and a creative team could mean a stronger tie-in to the games.

Perhaps another anime adaptation, like Edgerunners, is on the way for Cyberpunk and this time CD Projekt Red want more input on the script.

This is just speculation at this point, however, it’s interesting to see the studio seeking a new creative to take on duties outside of game development. We do know that one live-action Cyberpunk project is planned although whether this job ad is linked remains to be seen.

Another theory sees the studio branching out into original programming in some way. It doesn’t have to be linked to either of their big franchises.

For now, we can’t read too much into it, but it’s great to see the developer expanding their roster and bringing in new talent for future projects.

We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled to see how this develops as we near announcement dates for the next CD Projekt Red game.
