It's that time of year, it's time to open the storage settings on your console and start deleting games because the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 file size has dropped and it's a big boy.
We already knew that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 file size would be chonky, but now we have the actual number gamers around the world are doing mental gymnastics trying to work out what to delete. I'm sure you want the number so you can join in. 140gb. One Hundred and Forty of your SSDs finest gigabytes.
Modern Warfare III is almost here and it's a chonk
To be clear, the 140gb file is for the Call of Duty hub and you'll need this for access to the campaign. The hub alone is 89gb, but the campaign comes in two parts: 18gb and 32gb respectively, so it bumps up. Now for the bad news (there wasn't any good news) this doesn't even include the multiplayer components which, for this release, contains Zombies, standard multiplayer and Warzone.
Advert
If last year's iteration is anything to go by, the multiplayer portion of the game could increase the file size to around 200gb. At least we can be thankful that once you're done with the campaign, you can remove those files and just keep whatever you play most regularly.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is out 10 November, but preorders come with early access to the campaign from 2 November so you can get that out of the way before the multiplayer launch.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III carries on directly after the previous game and sees our favourite soldiers thrown back into battle against one of the series most deadly enemies, Vladimir Makarov - a Russian nationalist set on starting World War Three.
