Bully Player Discovers Way To Unlock Secret Sledgehammer Weapon

Almost 20 years later, and we can finally use this weapon outside of one specific mission

A YouTuber has uncovered a method that allows you to take the sledgehammer, a weapon that you can only use for a very brief time during a specific mission, anywhere you want in Bully.

Unsurprisingly, it turns out that it’s ridiculously overpowered (which probably goes some way to explaining why Rockstar Games didn’t want you running around the map with it).

If you’ve played Bully before, you almost definitely remember the mission titled The Tenements.

There’s a lot of cool stuff in this mission, which is probably why it’s a bit of a fan favourite. You get to beat up Norton, the building you fight in is on fire, and, of course, you get to use a big sledgehammer.

The thing is, once the mission is over, you don’t get to keep the weapon. There’s also no way to briefly escape with it in your inventory, as all of the exits in the building that the mission takes place in are locked.

However, as spotted by PC Gamer, one content creator by the name of JustGarrison accidentally found a way to make our sledgehammering dreams a reality.

The funniest part of their discovery is that they only figured out how to do this while they were attempting to complete a pacifist run, which requires you to not hit a single person throughout the course of Bully’s entire main story.

So, how did they pull it off? I’d suggest watching JustGarrison’s video if you want the full explanation, but I can give you the rough rundown.

Firstly, you have to make Norton hit the wall behind you so you can escape, and then you have to pull off something called the “William clip.” Basically, you want to stick yourself into a corner, and then you want to slowly shimmy around until Jimmy phases through the wall.

Then, after you phase back into reality, you can run back to the main mission and unlock one of the previously locked exits from the outside. From there, you’re free to pinch the sledgehammer and go to town on any unsuspecting NPCs.

As JustGarrison shows in their video, this thing is ridiculously overpowered. Considering Norton is a boss fight, there’s no way we could have known this until now, but it’s capable of taking down any regular NPC in only two hits.

Makes you wonder what other secrets are buried away in this 20-year-old game. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait another two decades for Rockstar Games to actually produce a sequel to it, though.
