It’s been a couple weeks since HBO’s The Last of Us drew to a close and I think I can speak on behalf of all of us when I say I miss it. The good news is that season two is definitely on the way but it likely won’t hit our screens until 2025.
It’s no surprise that a second season has been confirmed. HBO’s The Last of Us is a colossal success. Already, it’s been revealed that The Last of Us Part II will be adapted across multiple seasons so actually, it looks as if season three is on the way too. Fans are desperate to know who will play Abby. We’ve had no official casting news to date, but viewers have got some pretty good ideas. Bella Ramsey has already been showing off her incredible singing and guitar skills ahead of that fan-favourite ‘Take On Me’ scene. The actor has recently revealed though that when they began auditioning in the world of acting, they were told they didn’t have ‘the Hollywood look’.
The Last of Us Part I launches on PC today. Take a look at the game in action below.
As reported by our friends at UNILAD, in a very early audition, prior to the actor’s Game of Thrones days, Bella was told that they didn’t have the right look. They explained, “I was told [in] one of my first auditions ever [...] the director really liked me but I didn’t get the part because I didn’t have ‘the Hollywood look.’” Bella added, “That’s something that I’ve always found very interesting.”

That’s a horrid thing to tell a child and also what exactly is ‘the Hollywood look’? Should storytelling and film not represent us all? Unfortunately, Bella has also faced backlash from some haters when it comes to The Last of Us. If you ask me, Bella deserves to be nominated for all of the awards for her incredible performance, but they’ve recalled reading “painful” comments when the show’s casting was announced.
Bella said, “You’re looking for a comment that’s more painful than the last one. I’d kid myself that I was doing it in jest.” Fair to say, Bella has certainly proved any naysayers wrong.
